David Binkley has been practicing law for more than 40 years with an emphasis on business and commercial litigation. David represents a vast array of individuals and corporations, both as plaintiffs and defendants, involving a wide range of corporate matters including shareholder oppression claims, contract disputes, franchise litigation and professional liability claims. His goal-driven practice is equipped toward meticulously understand his clients’ needs and providing strategic counsel from start to finish.
David’s substantial experience in both federal and state courts has enabled him to handle many complex litigation and arbitration matters most recently successfully defending a $30M Fair Labor Standards Act claim and representing business owners in Errors and Omissions claims against negligent insurance providers.
David is uniquely equipped to handle the needs of business owners as he is the founder of two technology companies in Southeast Michigan and California.
Business Transaction
David Binkley is uniquely qualified to work with clients during negotiation and resolution of complex business transactions. In 2001, he co-founded and acted as general counsel for a start-up IT company focused on automobile parking solutions. That company emerged from its humble beginnings at the Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan to being acquired by a publicly traded company for $20,000,000.
As general counsel to STA Management (Southfield, Michigan) David Binkley has been in charge of the sale of 70 Domino’s franchises including management of all due diligence, document preparation and review. He has bought and sold dozens of shopping centers and businesses, has negotiated and completed the buy-out of shareholders, negotiated with creditors while protecting the client’s assets from potential problems. David possesses the capacity to see issues in these deals that might not be obvious to other lawyers lacking litigation experience in complex business deals. David has both.
From 1991-2000 David Binkley acted as a player agent for some big names on the PGA and LPGA tour. Following his meeting (and caddying for) Paul Azinger in a Skins Game, David began his relationship with Hurricane Sports owned by Paul Azinger and others. From there, David began an exclusive player/agent relationship with LPGA Hall of Famer, Meg Mallon. During his time with Meg, David negotiated multiple sponsorship and endorsement agreements including Mazda, Bridgestone and IZOD. (*He also played Augusta. 3 times)
